okay, so like mentioned, I went to 30h famine camp on friday...17June!
At first I was quite frightened as I have totally no idea what's going to happen,
and I clearly knew that none of my close friends were together in the same group with me.
Jiaen, Estella and I met earlier in the morning to have Macs as breakfast,
and Saymin came late.
We took a quite long ride to reach there!
Ngee ann is indeed a very big school,
but the slopes and stairs there seriously reminds me of my primary school.
Mayflower Pri.... - a school on a hill.
Hence, most of my primary school times were climbing stairs!
But this time, it was different.
Its either we're going down a slope, or we are going up a slope.
HAHAH the students there should have strong leg muscles when they graduate LOL.
Then we went in to register and stuffs,
and we found out that all peicaians were cheated!!
by that two ladies who came down to our school to take our t-shirt sizes!
The two girls were quite small in size,
and she said that the shirt she was wearing is S size.
So i took the s size too,
but when i collected my camp tee,
it was so freaking damn big.
But, we can't do anything hence we just made do with anything we had.
So, we started off with a talk or something at 12.
but the official camp starts timing at 1.
To be exact, we starved for 31 hours!
So we found our own family members and started introducing each other.
Thanks to Mingi, our joker, our group wasn't that awkward.
It wasn't really difficult for me to know the other girls in the group..
cause they're literally the same type of people!
NOISY!
We had these activities like..we can truly feel how those third world country works.
starting with nothing, and low energy bars.
Oh! Firstly let me introduce...our daddy and mummy.
Daddy being... HONG MINGI.
and our mummy of the group,
Daryl from RI -daebak-
thats our facilitator! |
his cca is water polo , cool or what?
okay.
so...
firstly we had to start off the game, deciding what is most important for survival .
Both of them think that education is most important, so all of us went to take some...
education test!
Grade 1 schooling!
We had to enter this classroom, and the tables and chairs were arranged in the examinations way.
SO we had to take some test that were similar to english P2.
3 stories and 3 simple questions from the passage.
We have to pass the test to get the education level!
And right after the test, I had to go for DiD.
Dialogue In the Dark.
Its something that is SUPERRRRRRRRRRR cool :D
There's different country, and what we experienced were just part of it.
Okay, so Estella and I were in the same group for that .
We were in Ethopeia...in a state called YAYA GULALE.
We were the only group that were called to remove our shoes and socks!
so..like expected, our main point was on the floor.
when we went inside the room, it was seriously pitch dark.
Even if i turned 360 degrees around the room, I couldn't even catch a glimpse of light at all.
we got to experience how does it feel to be blind.
It was really scary.
I had no images of what was i stepping on.
But i could feel it was sand, stones, grass, and some really painful sharp things .
LOL.
I didn't even dare to release my hand from estella's shoulder!
it was too scary...
but it was a pleasant experience.
the first thing i felt when i stepped on carpet, was...
I love my mummy for giving me shoes!
Then we went back to join our family,
and that was when we found out that our mummy and one girl in group contracted...
AIDS!!!
then, the rest of that game were crazy.
shant explain!
The dumbb mingi, he sold one of his arm to earn more money to get us vaccinated.
and you know during camps, they ought to have some real paramedics or something to be on standby for emergency.
So, this joker, he didn't even realise that one of the guy was wearing a 'Hope' tee
it was clearly stating and showing that he's not part of the game.
But mingi just went up to him and asked him...
" Can you help me repair my broken arm??? "
Our whole group was like laughing till drop dead cause that guy's expression was soo epic!
then after whole game ended, we got lots of useless money!
and the rest of the activities were just fun.
Mingi and I was even 'dead', and because of that,
I didn't even get to drink a single sip of MILO!!!!
-regrets-
and like i sgbeat-ed.
we didn't get to shower at all.
cause we are in FAMINE camp!!
we indeed get a taste of how those kids feel..
but I was also too tired to do anything!
Although i was sticky, but i know i'm not like the only one...
the lesotho's cheer was totally cool.
but, it is actually quite awkward to shake our asses like that early in the morning!!
HEEHEE :D
and we went through a series of activities,
like planning a fundraising event to help those children in need.
Our family were separated in the senior and junior level.
Secondary school level and the JC/Poly level.
Our group was the last to submit our proposals,
cause we were busy argueing about toilets, drainage systems, health packs, chicken and ducks -.-
even mummy and co. came over and looked,
and he even said "we're efficient, cause we finished our proposal when you all were quarrelling over your chickens! "
and so!
we went out to dhoby ghaut for our " Reach Out to Make A Stand! " ,
We alighted from the bus somewhere around POMO,
and we walked to Plaza Sing.
It was like super lots of people in orange walking on the road,
it indeed, attracted lots of attention.
Our mission was to take photos ,
1) most number of public members in one shot
2) most creative shot
3) nicest jump shot
So, we took all three,
and we gladly managed to win something out of these three!
which is the most number of public members in one shot...
we got 8 public members!
most creative! |
most number! |
best jump! |
Initially we thought we got the most creative shot,
cause seriously i think our shot were the most creative , it was soooooo dramatic.
And i think we scared the ladies inside the cafe cartel.
I didn't manage to get the photos that we took for this competition though..
and finally, the finale concert!!!!
There were awesome performances!
Like the magnum force the cheerleading, and some singers and the funny djs from 91.3 fm!
I like his voice(: |
So we counted down to break fast, and we- Lesotho was the first country to leave!
YAY!
Heard that mongolia didn't get their food though...
the food wasn't that tasty, though the sponsor was crystal jade!
But at least better than nothing!
And we had some photos taken and finally we said byebye to each other!
the cruel fact.. |
Khakaba family (: |
Faza, Phyllis & Yanxiang |
Linnet & Phyllis (: |
bored people started this... |
and we enjoyed free show.. |
same for here |
and we have to say a big THANKYOU to all these awesome facils for taking care of us!!
photos taken from Phyllis (:
and i think we really have to treasure whatever food we have.
Those children in the third world country are really poor thing.
Right even like this afternoon, i didn't have any appetite to finish my food,
cause those videos and photos of those boney children, children living in the undertunnel,
with dangerous hot water pipes around, and their dirty faces,
really....
OMG.
yeah.
I might get 厌食症 if this continues.
Lol.
So I'm going to stop here...
it was an enjoyable camp!
If there's a chance, I wanna join it again ^^
BYE FOR NOW!
